The Sri Lanka ETA is an electronic travel authorization that allows citizens of eligible countries to travel to and around Sri Lanka for tourism, transit and business purposes. The electronic authorization grants its holder a 30-day stay in Sri Lanka from the date of arrival. The ETA for Sri Lanka can be obtained by filling out a simple online application. There is no need to visit an embassy or consulate to obtain travel authorization in order to visit Sri Lanka. The ETA was introduced in 2012 to facilitate the visa request processes and improve border control.
ETA is valid for a period of six months from the day the authorization was issued.
The ETA holder can travel to Sri Lanka for a stay of up to 30 days with the Tourist and Business Electronic Travel Authorization. The Transit ETA only allows stays of up to two (2) days. For an extended stay, an ETA holder must contact an embassy or consulate.
The ETA for Sri Lanka allows a single or double entry depending on the purpose of the trip. The Tourist and Business ETA are a double entry authorization, while the Transit ETA is a single entry. The validity of the ETA begins upon the first day of arrival. The Business and Tourist ETA grants a 30-day stay in Sri Lanka.
